MRI-Guided Breast Biopsy | Referral Site Requirements

  • May 1
  • 1 min read

Interior Health Medical Imaging has issued an update regarding MRI-guided breast biopsy referrals.

When a breast imaging report recommends an MRI-guided breast biopsy, the MRI requisition must be sent to one of the designated sites where this procedure is performed.

While many Interior Health Medical Imaging departments provide a range of breast imaging services, MRI-guided breast biopsies are only available at the following locations:

  • Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) – Fax: 250-862-4017

  • Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) – Fax: 250-314-2326

This procedure is only indicated in specific clinical situations and will be clearly identified in the patient’s imaging report. Requisitions should be directed accordingly to ensure appropriate booking and timely access.
